Perspectives on 1/f noise in quantum chaos

چکیده
The power spectrum of the δn statistic of quantum spectra presents 1/f α noise. For chaotic systems α = 1 while for regular systems α = 2. Although the transition from regularity to chaos is non universal, for a wide variety of systems with a mixed phase space the value of α is intermediate between 1 and 2 and can be related to the fraction of regular or chaotic orbits in the total phase space. This statistic can be a very useful tool for the analysis of experimental spectra, specially in the case of missing levels or spectral sequences with mixed symmetries.

Noise and Integrable Systems
An innovative test for detecting quantum chaos based on the analysis of the spectral fluctuations regarded as a time series has been recently proposed. According to this test, the fluctuations of a fully chaotic system should exhibit 1/f noise, whereas for an integrable system this noise should obey the 1/f power law. In this letter, we show that there is a family of well-known integrable syste...
متن کاملChaos and 1/f noise in nuclear spectra
Many complex systems in nature and in human society exhibit time fluctuations characterized by a power spectrum S( f ) which is a power function of the frequency f . Examples with this behavior are the Sun spot activity, the human heartbeat, the DNA sequence, or Bach’s First Brandenburg Concert. In this work, we show that the energy spectrum fluctuations of quantum systems can be formally consi...
متن کاملColored 1/f noise and the Order to Chaos Transition in Quantum Mechanics
The spectral statistic δn measures the fluctuations of the number of energy levels around its mean value. It has been shown that chaotic quantum systems display 1/f noise (pink noise) in the power spectrum S(f) of the δn statistic, whereas integrable ones exibit 1/f 2 noise (brown noise). These results have been explained on the basis of the random matrix theory and periodic orbit theory. Recen...

We study the properties of chaos in spinning-particle motions in Schwarzschild spacetime. We characterize the chaos in the motions using the power spectrum. We discover that the power spectrum shows not only white noise but also 1/f type fluctuation, depending on the value of the spin and the angular momentum of the test particle. We obtain the phase diagram for the properties of the chaos. Fur...
متن کاملFrequency–driven chaos in the electrical circuit of Duffing-Holmes oscillator and its control
Accurate detection of weak periodic signals within noise and possibility of secure messaging have made Duffing oscillator (DO) highly important in the field of communication. Investigation on the properties of DO is thus ardently sought for. An elegant approach to accomplish the same is to fabricate electronic circuit simulating DO non-linear equation and to study the effect of input signal amp...
